The Kipungu Pistol

Description:

Weapon Type: Flintlock Pistol
This ornate firearm is crafted from the remains of the Kipungu, a legendary ab-dead vulture famous for its voracious appetite and it ability to spit necrotic acid to dissolve and pre-digest it’s quarry. The pommel of the pistol contains its talon, and the long, black and gray feathers of the creature hang from the base of the weapon. The barrel is forged with a powdered essence made from the glands that produce the creatures digestive acid. The firearm is etched with symbols of decay and death and the hammer is shaped after the head of the famous creature. When the weapon is loaded, and the hammer pulled back, the barrel begins to “salivate”, a yellowish acid can be seen dripping from the bore as the weapon is wielded.

Abilities:

  1. Rotting Shot: Bullets fired from the wepon deal 2d6 piercing + 2d6 necrotic damage, rapidly decaying the target’s flesh.
  2. Soul Rend: On a critical hit, the wielder is healed for the necrotic damage dealt.

Echo of the Vulture:

After each kill made with the weapon, the wielder is gripped by an overwhelming urge to consume their fill of the remains of the victim. If the craving is denied, the wielder begins to suffer from a creeping psychosis, resulting in disadvantage on Wisdom saving throws and Insight checks until they indulge the hunger. After 24 hours, they must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw (now at disadvantage) each hour or be driven to indiscriminately murder and consume another victim. Only consuming a creature killed by the weapon can end the urge and related psychosis.
